Welcome to the Greenology.
This week We are smoking on Seed Junky’s – Red Eye.
It’s a nice Indy-hybrid. I am feeling a mindful ease throughout my body and nervous system. I might have a nap a little bit later. But as we smoke on this Red Eye I wanted to share some thoughts I have about the cannabis industry.
Yo the “industry” is kinda fucked up right now. Here in California I see dispensaries failing left and right. There are a couple that are like strong holds, but they seem to tend to the more expensive side market. Lounges and 60$ 8ths. It feels tough cus, I guess that’s just what the legal culture has grown into. There are some small dispensaries that I see pop up but they usually only last about 3-5 years. It’s capitalism so it kinda makes sense. but it seems like we kind lost the community part of cannabis through this whole “legalization” process.
One part of the equation that is interesting to me, One of the largest companies, MedMen, went bankrupt in 2024. [Article ] When they first went public, they were evaluated at 3 billion dollars. They had branches with multiple locations in almost every “medicinal state”. The state regulations and laws being different for each state made it difficult for cannabis companies to scale to a national level. It is still federally illegal which creates other issues around companies claiming taxes on their revenue. It’s a whole mess. MedMen started closing locations by 2019. They weed was over priced anyway.
It was a mess when I left the industry in 2020 and I think it’s still a mess as just a normie look in, buying weed every few weeks.
Don’t get me wrong, the local vibes seem to be good. A few local dispos are still out here doing their thing, but I think its kinda safe to say the weed bubble has popped. What do you think?
We gotta get back to a REAL SESH
While we smoking people are still growing and the “underground” market seems to be strong as ever. In California you can go to ’Shroom dispensaries. Like it’s a whole ass building and they sell weed and shrooms and all types of edibles. It’s usually some pretty good products in there but there’s no numbers. None of these products have went through the state certification processes. So the wax may be questionable, and the weed may not have been flushed before the harvest. There’s always like a bit of a catch with the underground stuff. but the prices man, I’m talking some great looking dank for really affordable prices. Waxes that give u a gram and half for like 30$ Like I said, I don’t know the percentages but Damn that shit is gas. (some times – invests at ur own risk)
Speaking of risks, there’s always been the risk of getting something unhealthy, they be spraying the bad weed with poison so watch what u get through these telegram and Signal chats. The feds be on them apps too. And the science half of me is worries bout he extraction jobs on these oil products.but aye get it how you live.
I feel like I really haven’t found some GAS like back in the day. I’m talking blue cookies in 2015. Or a blue dream in 2012. Or green track amd jack herrare from 2008. I just remember some GAS from back in the day now everything its like a mid Runts cross. Not to mention the underground market just be using random ass names. It’s hard to keep up with and that’s on purpose. Basically I’m trying to find the best of the best y’all. something essential yahmeen.
Stay healthy. I’m ’bout to start classes this week but I‘ll try to keep you updated on my cannabis thoughts. Heres the article I referenced about med men.
